Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It's important to change things and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
