Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
