Netflix Casts Spot-On Star for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Third Season

The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a adored, audience-beloved member has just been cast.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Mr. 2. The role has the ability to change into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that role reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action show, as in the source material and anime.

This performer joins a number of fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, such as chief Mr. 0, played by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as the ruler of Alabasta.

Although this character is a important part of the organization, the character will be introduced in One Piece the third season. Given season 2 set to cover the Little Garden segment, this represents a significant shift in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could signal further changes to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the character. Besides their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.

Netflix's live-action One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its season two on March 10, 2026.
