Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
