Pat Bamford Signs With Sheffield United After Initiating Abusive Songs Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has joined Sheffield United just seven months after starting disrespectful chants directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club after departing from Leeds, has put pen to paper on a agreement with the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. His lengthy career with Leeds was ended amicably in August.

One of the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player was to lead abusive chants regarding Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion party in April. Currently, the former England international is set to play under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to rescue the team he loves away from the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford & the Manager

Both men had history prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the top flight last season while Sheffield United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager called Bamford as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won direct promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends and Looking Ahead

Everything appears to have been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement in attack while Bamford looking to resurrect his playing days.

The song about Wilder went viral in April. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder commented back then: “Spoke with Patrick yesterday and I have no problem at all with it. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow professional! But I valued and respected him giving me a call.

“We spent 20 minutes and the same again I talked with Daniel too and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we would give it and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game at every level, including Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”

Latest Career Struggles
