The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The gathering, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The swine, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six-seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Annually, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
