The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.

During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
